In the Python tutorial (the one by the guy named Josh), read the section on Decisions and do one of the exercises at the end of the section. There are three options for exercises. Choose one.

Spring Break assignment

In addition to working on your current program (which is optional), you must read the section on Functions from the "Non-programmers Tutorial" (this tutorial is linked to from the study wiki). After reading the section on defining functions (and actually typing up the examples and running them! You won't learn unless you do this!), complete the exercise at the end of the section. However, instead of including separate functions for the area of a square, rectangle, and circle, you are to include separate functions for the area of a square, a rectangle, and a triangle.

Note: all of this requires that you have python and a text editor (such as GVIM) installed. These programs are free of charge and easily downloadable and installable. Just search for them. As you can see when you go to the python web page, the version you should download is 2.5.1. They will work on Windows, OS X, and Linux. Part of this hw assignment is being able to follow instructions and figure out how to install this stuff. You may ask for help from other students or parents if you need to. That's fine. But don't come back to school and say that you couldn't do the hw because you couldn't install the programs. Finding and installing the programs is PART of the homework.

read the following page: algebra history. On the study wiki, find an appropriate place to write down 1 or more things that the reading has made you think about.(It can be either a historical fact that you have learned, or a question that the reading has caused you to ask.)
